The University College, Ibadan, was founded in 1948. At first, it occupied the old site previously used by the 56th Military General Hospital about eight kilometers away from the 'new' or permanent site. The new site covered over 1,032 hectares of land generously leased by the chiefs and people of Ibadan for 999 years. UIC startede i 2013 med at udbyde kurser til private, hvor fleksibilitet og kvalitet skulle gå hånd i hånd. Vi gik ind på et marked, hvor teorien fyldte mere end arbejdet med materialet, og startede derfor en lang række samarbejder med virksomheder, som havde interesse i at udvikle materiale, der kunne benyttes i praksis. I dag har det udfærdigede sig til et stærkt kursusindhold der adskiller sig fra resten af markedet og stiller kursisterne stærkere på arbejdsmarkedet efter hvert forløb.

VISION

Vi mener at kurser og uddannelser skal være tilgængelig for alle både geografisk og tidsmæssigt. Derfor arbejder vi hele tiden mod at udvikle nye kurser og uddannelser med netop det formål, at alle uanset baggrund kan tage vores kurser, og opnå de kompetencer den enkelte ønsker at besidde. The mission of the UIHI is to support the health and well-being of urban Indian communities through information, scientific inquiry and technology.

The UIHI was established as a Division of the Seattle Indian Health Board, a community health center for urban American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/ANs). The UIHI is one of 12 tribal epidemiology centers (TECs) funded by the Indian Health Service (IHS). While the other 11 TECs work with tribes regionally, the UIHI focuses on the nationwide urban AI/AN population. As a crucial component of the health care resources for all AI/ANs, tribal epidemiology centers are responsible for:

- Managing public health information systems

- Investigating diseases of concern

- Managing disease prevention and control programs

- Communicating vital health information and resources

- Responding to public health emergencies

- Coordinating these activities with other public health authorities

The UIHI assists Urban Indian Health Organizations, which are private, non-profit, corporations that serve AI/AN people in select cities with a range of health and social services, from outreach and referral to full ambulatory care. The history of the United Indian Health Services began in 1968. It was a time when Native activism coincided with the nation-wide Civil Rights Movement and the Office of Economic Opportunity programs. Together these factors helped create a new era of self-determination for Indian peoples. In California, where health services were so lacking, Indian groups formed their own health organizations. Each maintained its separate programs but together they started the California Rural Indian Health Board Inc. (CRIHB), an organization which continues providing its members with a variety of quality improvement and advocacy services.

Sheer determination, hard work and financial sacrifice paid off when UIHS became an official non-profit organization, ready to serve people in 1970. UIHS started with community outreach services. The first services provided on site were dental services.

UIHS continued to expand it's services into nearly every large town within Humboldt County, as well as servicing tribal members from every Rancheria and Reservation in the areas of Humboldt, Del Norte and Trinity Counties. The use of UIHS mobile services allowed the clinic to provide services to tribal members who still lived in areas that had no electricity or telephones.

Over the next twenty years UIHS outgrew four sites, started several satellite clinics, and went from offering basic visiting community health representative's, dental and medical services to a thoroughly modern, full spectrum health service agency. Along the way UIHS has increasingly realized it's goal of incorporating traditional values and customs into daily activities.

Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang berdiri berdasarkan Surat Keputusan Presiden No. 50 tanggal 21 Juni 2004. Dalam perkembangannya, ketiga fakultas cabang tersebut digabung dan secara struktural berada di bawah naungan Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Sunan Ampel yang didirikan berdasarkan Surat Keputusan Menteri Agama No. 20 tahun 1965. Sejak saat itu, Fakultas Tarbiyah Malang merupakan fakultas cabang IAIN Sunan Ampel. The University of Jiroft was originally started as a Technical Institute of Agriculture in 1989, under supervision of Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman. Subsequently, in 1997 it was developed to the Faculty of Agriculture and later on, it was expanded as The Faculty Complex of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Finally, in line with the particular attention of the government to higher education and scientific research around the country, and according to the all-round development of the southern province of Kerman as well as prospect of the use of high capacity and potential of the Jiroft city, on 22nd February 2009, the Faculty Complex developed to the University of Jiroft. The academic activity of this university was independently began with two Faculties viz. Agriculture and Natural Resources, however currently is has been fundamentally expanded and became a well known university in the south of country. The university is located 8 km far away from the city center and, occupies nearly 210 hectares of prime land. University of Jiroft offers a verity of Bachelor degrees in a wide spectrum of disciplines, as well as seven Master's degree programs. The research laboratories at the university are well equipped and a major program for modernizing laboratories is currently underway. In the near future, the university will also commit to offer doctoral program in the area of agriculture science.

There were many microfinance institutions active in rural India, but very few served India's urban population. To bridge this gap, Ujjivan focused on the urban poor. This is a fast growing segment that is relatively new to India's microfinance industry. Our surveys and interaction with the urban poor show that they are exposed to enormous contingencies and are required to share their meagre resources with neighbors, friends, relatives and colleagues. Hence, there is a tremendous amount of bonding and affinity among them. We have also found that, contrary to popular belief, the urban poor are a stable population. Therefore, the significant difference between the urban and rural population is the lack of time and availability of space in cities.

Our primary target customers are women because research has shown that they are a better population segment for microfinance. They are proven to spend a larger portion of their money on the welfare of their family and therefore create systemic changes needed to move their families out of poverty. The lending alternatives for poor women, besides MFIs, are comprised of moneylenders and other high cost, typically unreliable services.

Our strategy, products and distribution methods began based on the results of an 18 month pilot program and an extensive market research study, both based in Bangalore, and has evolved over the past three years based on our findings and experience in each of our regions. From our research and experience, we have found that income is not a reliable determinant to establish economic status of the urban poor, so we also consider a variety of factors other such as housing, occupation, education, expenditure etc. Unlike in rural areas, a substantial portion of the urban poor are employees with salary income, working in the unorganized sector as housemaids or cooks and the organized sector in factories, hospitals, offices and hotels. The self-employed are mainly vendors, small shopkeepers, tailors, etc

UKA - Norway's Largest Cultural Festival

UKA is a traditional, yet inventive, cultural festival. A phenomenon to many, it serves as a holiday in the middle of the fall term. Every other year fireworks light up the sky above Studentersamfundet, Trondheim's Student Society, to kick off what 1700 students have volunteered their time to achieve.

The student festival started off as a revue theater with the opening show 'Baccarat'​ in 1917. The purpose was to bolster the Student Society's economy, a place of sanctuary, and also a workplace, for thousands of Trondheim's students. The show was put up for a full week, hence the name of the festival ("UKA" = "the week"). The modern day UKA lasts for 25 days, and sold more than 90 000 tickets in 2015, making it the largest cultural festival in Norway.

UKA puts up everything from concerts with international artists such as Jay-Z, Muse, Snoop Dogg, Franz Ferdinand and David Guetta to sophisticated sushi and wine tasting classes. And last, but in no way least, the traditional revue theater.

A lot of Trondheim's residents have a close relationship to UKA, either through volunteering or as spectators. UKA aims to spread the student spirit to its visitors, and prominently affects the entire city throughout the weeks of October.

The research expenditure is also supported by funds obtained from peer reviewed competitive grants, private donations and industrial partnerships.

The Academic Medical Centre of Lisbon created as a consortium, brings together IMM, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon and the Hospital de Santa Maria with the aim of developing an integrated view of medicine, encouraging a crosswise biomedical research both in academic laboratories and clinical practice.

Kollektivtrafikförvaltningen UL inom Landstinget i Uppsala län svarar för den operativa ledningen av den offentligt finansierade kollektivtrafiken. All buss- och tågtrafik som körs under varumärket UL är upphandlad. Totalt används ca 450 bussar och 11 tåg.

På förvaltningen arbetar ca 90 personer med bl.a. strategisk utveckling, trafikplanering, biljettförsäljning, teknik och infrastruktur, administration och kommunikation.
