Open Doors Academy is a developmental enrichment program and leadership academy for youth living in at-risk environments. It boasts a 100% high school graduation rate! The program was established in 2002 as an afterschool drop-in program at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights. In 2002, ODA became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit. ODA serves approximately 500 youth and their families (400 middle school students and 100 high school students) annually at ten middle school sites and three high school sites in the Cleveland, Cleveland Hts-University Hts., and Euclid school districts. During the school year, programming for the middle school youth is 5 days a week from 3-6 pm. Youth participate in project based learning experiences and receive academic tutoring built around their developmental needs. In the summer, full-day camps and service learning trips begin in mid-June and run for 8 weeks. At the core of the program is building a safe haven filled with support, creating a sense of community, and fostering the kids' confidence. Our staff works closely with classroom teachers, sitting in classes, role modeling classroom etiquette, and serving as a support to our youth in their classroom learning experience. In addition to our daily programming parents are required to demonstrate a commitment to their child's education, by participating in parent education workshops, family events, and supporting their child's experience as they grow and develop with ODA.

To provide safe, sanitary shelter care, food, clothing, and furniture to needy men, women, and families; assist shelter residents in attaining housing, jobs, counseling and various treatment services; provide transitional, affordable, and permanent supportive housing; and to foster residents' growth toward independence and responsibility.

ODS is the only emergency shelter and has the only soup kitchen in Norwalk, CT. Consequently, our 95-bed facility has either been at full capacity or beyond for the past three years. Therefore, we have arranged to nightly accommodate homeless individuals at our local overflow facility.

We address the widespread concern of homelessness, by providing shelter, transitional and permanent supportive housing, operating a soup kitchen, food pantry, clothing room, and making available affordable housing for low-income earning individuals and families. Additionally, we employ a full-time Housing Coordinator and offer Case Management Services to all of our clients. We also have an Outreach Program; through which our Case Managers along with shelter clients travel throughout the community to areas where the homeless are known to congregate to encourage them into the Shelter for life-improving services.

I want to exert this by approaching a project with rational, critical thinking. Whereas the normal webdesigner follows your directions, I try to look further ahead and anticipate on possible conflicts.

My heart has burnt with passion and compassion for God's people. I had lots of ideas but could never see how it all would come together. Truth be told, I still don't.

In 2006, I got this wild idea of getting a bunch of my friends together and going to the streets of Pretoria and give the homeless people something to eat. I'll never forget that day; we were only five and scared of the unknown. We were all relieved when we found the homeless people welcoming us, but also saddened by the begging for more food.

The whole of 2007, I ignored God's call to go out with friends again. Eventually I agreed to get some of my friends together again. I thought it would be a once off again, just like the first time. I was surprised to see how God stirred me and my friends' hearts that night to do more.

I knew this was it. God has started something bigger than what I thought it would be. Our first project was called "feed the homeless" for a lack of a better name.

As I and the other team members' dreams and passion grew we knew that it will never stay at just feeding the homeless.

That was the birth of OpenMind.

We decided that OpenMind will be the core company and that it will host projects such as FTH, Go Fish and many others. Our big dreams finally got a place where it could be launched.

We now are proud to say that "feed the homeless" found a new identity: Feet On The Street.

Ultimately everything we do has to be aimed at restoring self-worth to the people. We want them to become a positive contribution to the society as a whole.

Open Stage of Harrisburg was founded in 1983 by Donald Alsedek (Artistic Director), Marianne Fischer (Managing Director), and Anne Alsedek (Studio/School Director) as a response to the 1982 Mayor's Task Force for the Arts for Harrisburg Report, which cited a need for theatre of a higher quality in the area. With a strategic planning grant from the Greater Harrisburg Foundation, Open Stage was founded. The theatre has been located in the Walnut Street Parking Garage, in the heart of downtown Harrisburg, since 1992. Open Stage presents plays that appeal to audiences who enjoy challenges beyond mainstream theatre offerings.

The Studio/School at Open Stage was founded in 1985, one year before the theatre began producing plays. Embracing the philosophical mission of the theatre, and the belief that acting is a skill learned through study and practice, the Studio/School remains integral to the theatre's operation. It continued to offer and to expand its year-round sequential classes and performance opportunities for adults and students from grades K-12. Its curriculum is tied to national and Pennsylvania standards in arts education.
