In the academic environment in Israel, the Open University of Israel is similar to other universities in its pursuit of excellence and its commitment to superior scientific and scholastic standards. However, it differs in its organizational structure, its curriculum, and its admission requirements.

The Open University is open to all those who wish to study a single course or a battery of courses, or to pursue a full program of study toward a Bachelor's degree. Enrollment does not require matriculation or any other certificate from another educational institution. Though applicants are not required to provide proof of prior scholastic achievements, their academic achievements are the key to their success at the Open University. Along with its open admission policy, the Open University demands of its students personal qualities without which academic achievements cannot be attained: ambition, motivation, perseverance, responsibility and self-discipline. Students are required to study on their own, practice at home, actively participate in group learning activities, and meet course deadlines and requirements.

Since 1996, the Open University has offered programs of study leading to a Master's degree. In contrast to the open admission policy for undergraduate studies, admission to graduate studies is contingent on fulfillment of certain requirements.

The Open University is flexible in structure and organization. Applicants joining the Open University student body are not required to enroll in a faculty or department, but rather in specific courses. An individual enrolled in a course becomes a student of the Open University.

The structure of studies at the Open University also differs from the structure customary at other universities, as it is not defined by years. Open University students are not first, second or third year students. Student are entitled to determine their own rate of progress and the degree of progress in not measured by units of time (years or semesters), but rather by the number of accumulated credits. Thus, the Open University does not compel its students to complete a uniform and prescribed program of study during a certain academic year. The individual rate of progress is determined by the students themselves - based on their diligence and determination as well as the amount of time available to them in light of their familial and work commitments. The rate of progress may change during the course of their studies - a relaxed year followed by a hectic year. The only constraining time frame is the semester, as the duration of most Open University courses is one semester of 15 weeks, and the students are required to meet the requirements of the course during the semester in which they are enrolled. Thus, there are students who study at a moderate rate, one course each semester, while others enroll in two or more courses simultaneously.

Operation Delta Dog was founded in 2013 in an attempt to alleviate the epidemic of veteran suicides and overflowing animal shelters at the same time. Working with experienced trainers and positive-reinforcement methods, we rescue homeless dogs from Massachusetts shelters and breed-rescue groups and train them to work as service dogs with local veterans who are suffering with PTSD and TBI.

​Assistance animals are a practical and successful way to reduce stress, treat depression, and manage the panic attacks associated with PTSD and TBI. Trained dogs, however, are in short supply--especially here in New England. A local veteran applying for a PTSD service dog will likely have to travel to the West Coast for training and will wait, on average, two to five years before being matched with an animal. In far too many cases, this is simply too late. Our veterans deserve better.

​Operation Delta Dog wants to improve those odds. Our trainers find the very best canine candidates, pluck them from shelters, and train them for a new life filled with purpose and affection. Opportunities Unlimited (OU) is a nationally accredited, non-profit organization rooted in the mission of "Maximizing Personal Potential Through Dignified and Purposeful Living.' OU provides rehabilitation services for individuals who have a brain injury, a spinal cord injury, or other physical disability, Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) to over 150 individuals with special needs, and vocational services.

OU's rehabilitative services include nine residential homes where persons served live. Persons served are encouraged to participate, to the best of their ability, in all areas of residential living and therapies. With the assistance of staff, persons served take part in meal preparation and help with household tasks to move toward their goals of greater independence.

OU also provides Home and Community Based Services to children and adults with special needs. These services include skill building and respite services and are offered at the Opportunities Unlimited Center, out in the community, or in the privacy of the individual's home.

OU, through its Vocational Department, provides support to individuals in a vocational setting through our certified job coaches. Upon completion of a comprehensive assessment, outcome goals are established and focus is placed on the individual and the programs and services to reach these identified goals.

History

Founded in 2013, Opportunity Hub (OHUB) grew to a multi-campus entrepreneurial center in Atlanta, GA that offered coworking and office space, intense entrepreneurship, coding and investment training and programming, a pre-accelerator and incubator.

Demand for OHUB's programs and space was so great in its early stages that OHUB went on to expand to a second location on Atlanta's Westside in a joint venture with the now late Herman J. Russell. Those two locations had a total building footprint of 17,000+ square feet. OHUB hosted more than 300 meetings and events annually, and more than 15,000 entrepreneurs, investors, innovators and mentors have come through OHUB's doors to date.

Over a four year period, roughly 100 companies have gone through OHUB's Pre-Accelerator program. Most of those companies are minority-owned businesses, and all are technology-related startup companies. Roughly one-fifth of the companies who have completed the Pre-Accelerator have gone on to become viable companies.

Merger

OHUB merged with TechSquare Labs in October 2015 to launch a 25,000 s/f technology incubator, corporate innovation lab and seed fund in TechSquare near Georgia Institute of Technology.

Expansion

In Q42016, OHUB and Huddle Ventures formed Opportunity Ecosystem (OE) to launch an inclusive innovation, entrepreneurship and investment building platform. OE partners with professional athletes, influencers, foundations, municipalities, colleges and universities and corporations to build diverse and equitable high growth innovation and entrepreneurial communities. This is accomplished by our early exposure, education and training, comprehensive ecosystem building and capital formation initiatives.

Current initiatives include: HBCU@SXSW, Tech Opportunity Fund, an accredited entrepreneurial course and 100 Black Angels of America.

Opportunity Village was founded in 1954 by a small group of local families who sought to improve the lives of their children with intellectual disabilities. Since then, Opportunity Village has grown to become Nevada's largest private, not-for-profit community rehabilitation program, serving nearly 2,000 people annually through vocational training, community job placement, art and life skill enrichment, advocacy, and social recreation programs.

More than just a charity, Opportunity Village operates four employment training center campuses and a Thrift Store in Southern Nevada.
