The Fostering Network is the UK's leading fostering charity. We work with over 400 fostering services and almost 60,000 foster carers to help the 63,000 children in care on any one day achieve the very best they can.

Children are at the heart of all we do. We bring together everyone who is involved in the lives of children and young people who are fostered and lead, inspire, motivate and support them to make foster care better.

What We Do:

More than 600 children per month reside in foster care in El Paso County. We help these foster children by developing and providing volunteer teams devoted to supporting the foster families. Our teams provide assistance to the foster parents and care for the children in ways that provide stability, enrich their family environment and connect the kids to the community.

Why We're Great!

Volunteer teams become an extended family. They ease the stress on the foster parents and nurture trust and belonging in the foster children. This results in foster parents being more available for and reduces trauma on these delicate children. We also improve the odds for a productive outcome as they age out of our Foster Care system by providing additional guidance, mentoring and links to the community.

Fostering Media Connections harnesses the power of journalism and media to drive public and political will behind policy and practice that improves the well being of children experiencing foster care.

FMC's work straddles the fields of child welfare, education, public policy and communications. This synergy of traditionally disparate domains allows FMC to drive national level policy, usher in state-by-state implementation of federal law, enable coordination between the silos of public administrations and inspire a grass-roots movement bent on improving the lives of children experiencing foster care.

FMC highlights the key challenges facing foster care, specifically in the areas of educational stability, educational achievement, enhanced permanency and the unique needs of transition-aged youth. FMC advocates for the implementation of existing public policies to help children and encourages replication of highly effective programs and best practices.

FMC has become a trusted resource for foster care information to policy makers at both the federal and state level. The fundamental difference between FMC's work and that of a PR company is that unlike a PR firm that repurposes materials fed by the client, FMC does journalistic reporting irrespective of any client. Foundation House is an extended-care, transitional sober living program for young adult men ages 17-35. Founded in 2002, Foundation House has built an enduring community of sober and active young men in one of the top cities for young people in recovery - Portland, Maine. Our program offers a dignified bridge between treatment and living life sober in the real world.

At Foundation House we have created a non-punitive, peer-supported environment based on trust, and allow our residents to navigate real life - by living it.
