Celebrating 100 years of service, Citrus College is located in Glendora in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, approximately twenty-five miles northeast of metropolitan Los Angeles. City University (City U) (or formerly known as Unity College International) was founded in April 1984 by a group of scholars with extensive experience in both local public universities and reputable overseas universities. Registered with the Ministry of Higher Education under the former Education Act 1961, City U was known then as the Petaling Jaya Community College (PJCC). It was established at a time when there was a growing awareness that it was necessary for the private sector to complement the national education effort. Its aim item was to equip high school leavers with extensive academic exposure to the American degree system moderated by the Consortium of American Universities and Colleges (CAUC).

This was done through a biennial meeting in the United States. City Charter High School (City High), located in the Clark Building in downtown Pittsburgh, is completing its seventh year of operation. The school obtained its initial five year charter in 2002 from the Pittsburgh Public Schools and was re-chartered through 2012. City Charter High School, which is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is governed by a nine member Board of Trustees. The school is free and open to the public. Funding is provided to the school from the students' school districts of residence.

City High serves approximately 560 ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth grade students. 81% of the students are from the Pittsburgh School district; the rest are from 23 area school districts. Avalon is situated on the easterly portion of Catalina Island, 22 miles south/southwest of the Los Angeles Harbor breakwater. Avalon is a little over 2 2/3 square miles in size.
