- City of Euclidcityofeuclid.com
The Township of Euclid, was one of the first communities to be established in the Western Reserve. A contract between Superintendent Moses Cleaveland and 41 employees of the Connecticut Land Company created the Euclid Survey Township. Euclid, named after the Greek mathematician, was incorporated as a township in 1809. The township consisted of more than 35 square miles of land.
David Dille, a Virginia company lieutenant from the Revolutionary War, is credited as the founder of Euclid Township. He built a log cabin on the west bank of Euclid Creek. In those early years, the village was a farming community, subsisting on cash from crops of wheat and table grapes. The first industries were saltworks, sawmill, gristmill and ship building.
In 1930, with a population of 12,753, Euclid officially became a city and Henry S. Pickands was elected the first mayor. A decade later, World War II brought sudden growth to the community. An influx on new industry began replacing the farmland. Euclid's city planners assured orderly growth by segregating commercial and industrial land from residential neighborhoods, becoming pioneers of modern zoning concepts. In 1994, the population of Euclid was 54,875. Today Euclid is known for its superior municipal services, excellent educational opportunities and quality of life.

- City of Holladaycityofholladay.com
On July 29, 1847 a group of pioneers known as the Mississippi Company, led by John Holladay, entered the Salt Lake Valley. Within weeks after their arrival, they discovered a free flowing, spring fed stream, which they called Spring Creek (near Kentucky Avenue). While most of the group returned to the Fort in Great Salt Lake for the winter, two or three men built dugouts along this stream and wintered over. Thus, this became the first village established away from Great Salt Lake City itself. In the spring, a number of families hurried out to build homes and tame the land. There were numerous springs and ponds here and grasses and wild flowers were abundant, making this a most desirable area for settlement. When John Holladay was named as the branch president of the Church, the village took upon itself the name of Holladay's Settlement or Holladay's Burgh.
The City of Holladay was officially incorporated on November 30, 1999

- City of Sparkscityofsparks.us
Before March 15, 1905
There may not be another city in the land that came to life in quite the unique way Sparks did. It's the custom-made town, tailored ordered by the Southern Pacific Railway Company. In 1902, there was nothing but swampland and ranches four miles east of Reno.
When Southern Pacific succeeded Central Pacific as the new owner of the main line across Northern Nevada, one of the first decisions made was to straighten the road and cut a few miles off the distance. The new route bypassed Wadsworth, which for 40 years had ruled the roundhouse and maintenance shops of Central Pacific.
Southern Pacific made a startling offer to its Wadsworth employees; A tract of land would be laid out next to the roundhouse, and the railroad would give everyone clear deed to a lot 50' X 140' in size, and to add to the miracle, the railroad offered to pack up every house in Wadsworth and ship it to the new town, free of charge. Sometime during the summer of 1903 a drawing was held- the employees names in one hat, lot numbers in another- and everyone got what they got. Sixty-seven lots changed title that day, at a price of $1 per lot.
Sparks was born...

- City of Vallejo, Californiacityofvallejo.net
We're proud of our 200-year heritage. And today, Vallejo continues to be a friendly, active waterfront community that attracts innovative and hardworking people and businesses. This is reflected in Vallejo being ranked the hottest real estate market in the United States for the past twelve months.
The City of Vallejo's story begins in 1844 when General Mariano G. Vallejo saw the promise of the area. Named after him and twice the site of the state capitol in the 1850s, Vallejo grew into an important shipping and naval center. Legend has it that Mare Island got its name after Gen. Vallejo drove a herd of horses across the Carquinez Strait.
Established in 1854, Mare Island Naval Shipyard was the West Coast's first shipyard. Decommissioned in 1996, Mare Island is now home to more than 100 businesses and has become an industrial, commercial and residential engine for the Bay Area.
A strong economy and affordable housing have meant new prosperity for Vallejo, as businesses and residents come to the city. Some are attracted by the beautifully restored Victorian homes and business fronts; others by the newer homes in the Northgate and Hiddenbrooke developments.
The city recently earned Main Street designation, and as a result our downtown area has benefited from on-site training in effective commercial district revitalization, technical assistance, consulting services, networking activities, and site assessments from California Main Street.
Waterfront and Mare Island redevelopment have become a community effort, with input from residents helping shape the future of what will become the most important economic generators for the city.
The city's Ferry Terminal and ferry services have served as a model for the rest of the Bay Area, helping make Vallejo a transportation and commuter hub for the North Bay with over 1 million riders annually. Six Flags Marine World, restaurants and the Downtown Farmer's Market help make Vallejo the vibrant community it is today.

- City on a Hill Melbournecityonahill.com.au
"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." — Matthew 5:14–16
City on a Hill is a movement of men and women called to know Jesus and make Jesus known. We seek to live boldly in this generation, emanating gospel light with the words we speak, the decisions we make, and the lives we live.
Our story began in October 2007 with a small team and a big vision to make a difference in Melbourne for the good of all people and the glory of God.
Meeting initially in an apartment before moving to a pub, we now hold 3 services every Sunday in a cinema in the heart of the city. Through the week we are committed to living lives of love, service and generosity.
Throughout our journey we've seen many saved by Jesus while others reconnect with Christ and His church. We have helped care for the poor, pioneer new ministries, train leaders, equip missionaries, and seen many doors opened for the gospel. We are not a building or an authority structure, but ‘a people for God's own possession that we may declare the excellencies of Him, who called us out of darkness into His marvellous light' (1 Peter 2:9).

We approach learning accordingly and work tirelessly to prepare our students for success in college and beyond.

However, 100% of City on a Hill students pass the MCAS, and 100% of our graduates earn college acceptance or placement in a post-secondary program appropriate to their learning needs.
Our Mission: City on a Hill graduates responsible, resourceful, and respectful democratic citizens prepared for college and to advance community, culture, and commerce, and to compete in the 21st century.
