Universeum är grundat av Chalmers tekniska högskola, Göteborgs universitet, Göteborgsregionens kommunalförbund och Västsvenska Handelskammaren. University of Sulaimani (UOS) was first established in 1968, the main campus is located in the city of Sulaimani in Kurdistan of Iraq. Inaguracion de La Ciudad UniversitariaEl movimiento estudiantil Q.U.R.(Queremos Universidad Riojana) surge a principios de Agosto de 1971 buscando el acercamiento de todo el estudiantado riojano para promover la creación de una Universidad en la Provincia. Al anunciarse la visita del Ministro de Cultura y Educación de la Nación, Gustavo Malek, los jóvenes riojanos toman conciencia de la magnitud que tiene su movimiento y piensan que es la oportunidad propicia para hacerse escuchar. El 17 de Septiembre de 1971, los dirigentes del Q.U.R. le presentan al Ministro de Educación y Cultura, ante 3000 personas que los acompañaban y frente a la Casa de Gobierno el petitorio en el cual se le solicita la creación de la Casa de Altos Estudios. Al momento de tomar la palabra, Gustavo Malek responde: "Ustedes, los estudiantes, deben cambiar la sigla Q.U.R. (Queremos Universidad Riojana) por la de T.U.R. "Tendremos Universidad Riojana", agregando que "éste es el triunfo de ustedes, de la juventud riojana que, como un ejemplo para todo el país, no han elegido el camino del incendio ni de la destrucción, sino el camino positivo. Los jóvenes deben recordar este momento histórico como el gran paso hacia el futuro de La Rioja".De esta manera la Universidad Provincial de La Rioja, luego de la labor llevada a cabo por la Comisión Organizadora ad-hoc, se origina con la Ley provincial Nro. 3.392, del 2 de Junio de 1972, en la cual se disponía además que las clases se inicien en el siguiente año. Por Ley Nacional Nro. 24299, promulgada el 28 de Diciembre de 1993, se creó la actual Universidad Nacional de La Rioja (U.N.LaR.).
