A primeira foi a criação da Faculdade de Educação Física, que começou em abril de 1969, nas dependências do Brasil Futebol Clube, em Santos. Em seguida, no ano de 1976, teve início o Funcionamento da Faculdade de Odontologia, que além da formação de profissionais da área específica, criou uma Clínica Odontológica proporcionando assim atendimento gratuito à grande parcela da comunidade carente santista e cidades circunvizinhas. O crescimento gradativo e qualitativo da Instituição, o Aumento do corpo docente e discente, justificou plenamente a maior meta, ou seja, a transformação em Universidade, o que ocorreria em 1985, denominada Universidade Metropolitana de Santos - UNIMES.
