We are a not-for-profit pediatric cancer foundation founded in November 2011 by the Vorenberg family and cousin Josh Grossman in honor of Stephen Vorenberg and his heroic and inspirational story. Stephen was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma back in 2008. His reaction to the diagnose, 'I hope I don't lose my hair.' Stephen carried this light-hearted spirit with him throughout his entire year of chemotherapy. Stephen demonstrated amazing courage during these trying times and has maintained that attitude with his continual support of different cancer related organizations. Currently studying medicine at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Middletown, NY, Stephen has taken this experience and used it to find his calling...Pediatric Oncology.

The purpose of this foundation is to:

1. Support cancer research with funds and volunteers.

2. Provide a means to share survivor and non-survivor stories that encourage proactive activities to help with cancer research/cancer organizations as well as cancer support.

3. Provide scholarships for cancer survivor students and/or students entering into cancer/medical research.

4. Provide a mechanism for support groups and information for individuals/families to assist with a plan of action when diagnosed.

Since its founding Stephen's Soldiers Foundation has raiser over $25,000 for pediatric cancer research and established a $40,000 scholarship endowment for pediatric cancer survivors to pursue higher education.

StepUp Ministry is a non-profit with locations in Raleigh, Greensboro and Durham. Our programming focuses directly on individuals who are unemployed. The majority of our participants face barriers, such as criminal backgrounds, to finding employment, successfully reentering society and supporting themselves and/or their families. StepUp provides a chance for people to start over.

The first step in our process is employment. Our 32-hour, weeklong Employment Training Workshop teaches the skills needed to find and sustain employment: networking, resume writing, how to dress appropriately, time management, conflict resolution, communication skills, strategic thinking, and interview preparation.

The second step in our process is the year-long Life Skills class. Adult participants learn skills such as budgeting, goal-setting, credit restoration, managing emotions and relational development. The goal is stability in all aspects of life over the long term.

Focusing on the the entire family, StepUp also officers a Children's Program which is designed to equip the children (ages 0-16) of our adults particpants to make positive life choices. The program combats life challenges by creating a support network of parents, teachers, volunteer mentors and trained staff to serve as positive role models.

In order to continue positive support for our Life Skills graduates, we offer an Alumni Program four times a month. Topics include: communication skills, personality profiles, career development, entrepreneurship, public speaking, and life coaching
