SKB, Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company, is tasked with managing swedish spent nuclear fuel and other radioactive waste in a safe way. In 2009 we selected a site for the Spent Fuel Repository and now we have submitted the applications to build the repository in Forsmark.

Nuclear power companies in Sweden jointly established the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company (SKB) in the 1970s. SKB's assignment is to manage and dispose of all radioactive waste from Swedish nuclear power plants in such a way as to secure maximum safety for human beings and the environment. The assignment is so extensive that we see it as one of Sweden's biggest environmental-protection projects.

System of facilities

SKB is responsible for a system of facilities used to handle all waste from the Swedish nuclear power plants. These facilities include a central interim storage facility for spent nuclear fuel (Clab) near Oskarshamn, and a final repository for short-lived radioactive waste (SFR) in Forsmark. Transport is by sea using the vessel M/S Sigrid.

Decades of research

An important issue for present and future generations is the final disposal of spent nuclear fuel. SKB has been conducting advanced research for thirty years with a focus on the final disposal of all spent nuclear fuel.

Siting process

A siting process was initiated some 20 years ago in order to locate a potential repository for the final disposal of spent nuclear fuel. Subsequent analyses and site investigations resulted in the selection of Forsmark in Östhammar municipality in 2009. In March 2011 the applications were submitted to the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (SSM) and to the Land and Environment Court to build the Spent Fuel Repository in Forsmark.

De stichting Kennisoverdracht Bouwfysica (SKB, opgericht in 2005, is een initiatief van NLIngenieurs en de NVBV (Nederlands Vlaamse Bouwfysica Vereniging) werkt samen met PAO Techniek en Management (PAOTM) en Instituut Fysieke Veiligheid (IFV). Inschrijving voor de opleidingen gaat via deze sites.

Met de oprichting van de SKB willen NLingenieurs en NVBV de overdracht van actuele en toepasbare kennis bevorderen op het gebied van bouwfysica, regelgeving en milieu. Het bestuur van de SKB heeft zich tot taak gesteld opleidingen aan te bieden die zowel een meerwaarde opleveren voor de branche als geheel en voor de arbeidsmarktpositie van de bouwfysicus in het bijzonder.

Het Streekziekenhuis Koningin Beatrix (SKB) -gelegen in Winterswijk- is een modern algemeen ziekenhuis met 24 specialismen en 214 bedden. Het SKB heeft buitenpoliklinieken in Groenlo, Lichtenvoorde en Eibergen.

Het huidige SKB is hèt ziekenhuis van de Achterhoek. In het verzorgingsgebied van het SKB wonen om en nabij de 150.000 mensen.

Uit een onderzoek van het Bureau Prismant, blijkt dat de meeste inwoners van de kerngebieden rond Winterswijk van het SKB gebruik maken: 85 procent. In de buitengebieden varieert dit percentage van 10 procent in Wisch tot 60 procent in Eibergen.

Het SKB is een belangrijke werkgever in de regio. Bijna 1.100 medewerkers zijn in het ziekenhuis werkzaam: in de directe zorg, en in ondersteunende diensten.

sketch is a "lieu" or destination place, for food, art and music.

sketch's home, 9 Conduit Street in London, was designed by James Wyatt in 1779 and has previously been the headquarters of the Royal Institute of British Architects before later becoming the London Atelier of Christian Dior. With this series of commissions sketch continues to contribute to the building's heritage as a destination for experimentation in design, art and architecture.

The site consists of the Gallery, the Lecture Room & Library, the Parlour, the Glade, the East Bar.

sketch was inaugurated in 2002 by restaurateur Mourad Mazouz and masterchef Pierre Gagnaire, as a destination for food, art and music. The Lecture Room & Library was awarded its first Michelin star in 2005 and in 2012, the restaurant won its second Michelin star, which it retains today.

Over the past decade, due to Mazouz's commitment to art and design, the venue has hosted over fifty exhibitions of artists' moving image including work by Carsten Nicolai, John Baldessari, Jonas Mekas, Mary Ellen Bute, Charles & Ray Eames and Michael Nyman and more recently British Artists Martin Creed and David Shrigley, as part of its new long-term programme of artist-designed restaurants for the Gallery.

Located in north east Victoria, Falls Creek is Victoria's largest alpine resort, with 450 hectares of terrain. Falls Creek's snow season runs from the Queens Birthday long weekend (early June) through until the end of September / start of October each year. Falls Creek is a true ski-in ski-out alpine resort, and has a range of accommodation, activities, and on-mountain dining to suit everyone.
