After Shapur the First, the Sassanid King, conquered the Roman Emperor, commanded the Roman POWs to build a new town in a location that was 18 Kilometers South-East the present Dezful city. That town was called Gondi Shapur (meaning the city of Shapur), was a focal point for scientists and acedemics. In the 5th century A.D., a university and a hospital were established in Gondi Shapur that were functional up to 3rd century A.H.

After 15 centuries, in 1955 (1334 A. H.), the first nucleus of rebirth of Gondi Shapur University in the modern era was set by establishment of a college of Agriculture in Ahvaz. This college grew up to be one of the most important institutions of its kind in the country. Other colleges and schools were established thereafter, and the university, now named Jundi Shapur University, expanded rapidly. In 1969 the School of Agriculture was recognised as the best school of its kind in Middle East countries.

In 1982 the university was renamed after martyrdom of Dr Chamran, the date commander in chief of a group of a guerrilla battalion, that was based in Jundi Shapur University campus in the war between Iraq and Iran. The university was closed in those days due to war conditions in the area.

Sichuan University - Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) is a newly institute cooperated by Sichuan University (SCU) and the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt). Located in Chengdu, China, SCUPI is one of the institute-scale, collaborative entities between leading universities in the U.S. and China, including joint institutes of the University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiaotong University, and Carnegie Mellon University-Sun Yat Sen University. The SCUPI stands out for its technical focus on advanced, sustainable manufacturing. On the educational front, SCUPI will initiate three undergraduate majors in Industrial Engineering (IE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), following the Swanson School of Engineering's core curriculum. Initial enrollment of 100 students is anticipated for Fall 2015 with an initial faculty of ten to provide the equivalent of the Swanson School's freshman curriculum. Within seven years, enrollment is projected to reach a steady state of 1600 students with a faculty of approximately 80 members. All courses will be taught in English. SCUPI will have a new building to be constructed on Sichuan University's international campus in Chengdu, Sichuan. The building will house state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities and provide students with active and innovative learning experience.

Le attività cliniche del Centro consistono in incontri di terapia familiare e di coppia svolti da terapeuti soci del Centro e in possesso di una formazione completa in terapia familiare. Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) is the flagship hospital of the Santa Clara Valley Health & Hospital System. The mission of SCVMC is to provide quality and comprehensive care from community based prevention services to primary and acute care to the transition of maintaining health at home.

SCVMC includes an acute care inpatient hospital with 574 licensed beds, 8 regional clinics providing primary care and a specialty center offering a wide-range of specialty services.

SCVMC has the county's busiest Emergency Department (ED) with over 75,000 visits and is accredited by The Joint Commission. The ED is a Level 1 Trauma Center for both adults and children, and is home to the county's only Sexual Assault Response Team.
