מכללת רופין אשר הוקמה בשנת 1949, נקראה בשנותיה הראשונות 'מדרשת רופין' והציעה לחקלאים ובני מושבים התמחות בענפי חקלאות וטכנולוגיה חקלאית.

בשנת 1961, פתחה המכללה תוכנית לימודים חלוצית בשם 'מסלול הנדסאים' ומאז מובילה את תחום הכשרות ההנדסאים בישראל עם המגוון הרחב ביותר של מגמות בתחום.

עשרות אלפי סטודנטים במכללה לומדים כיום במסלולי הנדסאות, השתלמויות מקצועיות ובתוכנית הלימודים 'מרופין לקריירה'.

המכללה דוגלת בעקרונות הקיימות ועל כן מקדמת בתחומה סביבה ירוקה ומקצועית באמצעות 16 מעבדות מחקר טכנולוגי, כיתות מחשבים, שירותי ספריה, סדנאות עבודה מהמתקדמות בישראל מדשאות ופינות מנוחה רבות.
