The Prince William County Service Authority is the premier provider of safe, reliable drinking water and environmentally-sound water reclamation services to more than 300,000 customers in Prince William County, Virginia.

The high quality drinking water the Service Authority provides is drawn from three primary sources: the Occoquan Reservoir, Potomac River and Lake Manassas. Water from the Occoquan Reservoir and Potomac River is treated at Fairfax Water's Frederick P. Griffith, Jr. and James J. Corbalis, Jr. Water Treatment Plants, respectively. Prince William Sound Aquaculture Corporation (PWSAC) is a non-profit corporation founded in 1974 by a local commercial fishermen's organization to optimize Alaska's wild salmon resources.

PWSAC produces hatchery-born, ocean-raised wild salmon for the commercial, sport, personal use and subsistence fisheries in the Prince William Sound and Copper River regions.

With headquarters in Cordova, Alaska, PWSAC operates four remote salmon hatcheries in Prince William Sound and one on the Copper River in Paxson. About 600 million salmon fry and smolt are produced for release into Pacific waters. The returning adults benefit all user groups.

PWSAC operations are financed through the sale of fish to processors and a salmon enhancement tax paid by commercial fishermen.

Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWSD) provides service to approximately 6,000 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 33 schools, including eight Hutterite colony schools and an outreach and online school – Peace Academy of Virtual Education (PAVE) located in Spirit River. High school programs are operated in eight schools – Spirit River Regional Academy, Beaverlodge Regional High School, Eaglesham School, Ridgevalley School, Savanna School, Sexsmith Secondary School, Peace Wapiti Academy and PAVE. The Board also provides educational programming at a group home facility serving students in Northern Alberta.

The system provides schooling for students from Horse Lake First Nation and Kelly Lake Métis settlement. Excluding the colony schools, the smallest school has an enrolment of 52 students and the largest has more than 840 students. PAVE has an enrolment of approximately 70 full-time students, and more than 100 students registered in one or more high school courses. Effective Alternative Education programs are also in place with 15 students taking full-time programs in Grades 4-9, and more than 160 students taking one or more courses at the high school level.

In the smaller and more rural high schools, some reliance is placed on distance education programs to augment the basic in-school offerings. Specialty programs exist to meet local needs.

PWSD employs the full-time equivalent of 375 teachers and 600 non-teaching staff. The Transportation Department manages 104 bus routes. In addition, PWSD employs a considerable number of part-time and casual personnel, making it one of the largest employers in the Peace River Region.
