For over 40 years, Med-Assist School of Hawaii has been a proprietary institution that trains students in Allied Health Services. Our two main academic programs are: Medical Assistant (MA) and Professional Medical Coder (PMC). The MA program was Hawaii's first and has been the school's primary program since 1974. Our PMC program was recently established in 2011. Our school's total MA annual enrollment averages from 120 to 160 students. The PMC program, over the course of its first year, attracted 19 students. We hold three graduation ceremonies annually, with each ceremony reflecting students who had completed all program requirements since the preceding graduation.

In addition to classroom study, Med-Assist's MA students receive on-the-job experience through a required externship with either a licensed physician, or at a hospital or other health care facility. The combination of class, laboratory, and practical experience helps our students transition smoothly into employment as medical assistants.

Because of our rich history, there are thousands of Med-Assist alumni sprinkled throughout Hawaii's healthcare facilities, small and large. Chances are, you have been cared for by one of our alums! As they gain experience and rise among their ranks, they often show their loyalty by serving as extern preceptors and mentors for current students.

Shanghai Challenge Textile Company has bought 14.6 million shares of Masood Textile Mills, which constitutes roughly one-fourth of the total shareholding of the Faisalabad-based company.

The share of Masood Textile Mills hit the upper lock on Monday on the KSE. Its share closed at Rs128.15 after increasing by Rs6.10, or 5% of its opening rate.

Masood Textile Mills was in talks with another Chinese group – Shandong Ruyi Science and Technology Group along with Shahid Nazir Ahmad and Nazia Nazir – for the sale of its majority shareholding. It had received the approval from the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) along with a separate approval from the Ministry of Commerce of China to go ahead with the acquisition. But the deal fell apart on September 30 when potential acquirers withdrew the public announcement of their intention to acquire up to 52% shares of Masood Textile Mills for undisclosed reasons.

Masood Textile Mills is a manufacturing company with in-house yarn, knitting, fabric dyeing, processing, laundry and apparel manufacturing facilities. It posted a pre-tax profit of Rs1.1 billion in 2013, which was 13% higher than its pre-tax earnings in the preceding year. Massa Sub-Bottom Profiling transducers are well known in the hydrographic survey industry for durability, performance and reliability. For example, the TR-1075 Sub-Bottom Transducers are used by survey vessels to map the sediment layers of the ocean floor.

MILITARY

For Military applications, Massa has developed a wide variety of different underwater transducers and systems that have been used for virtually every sonar requirement. These include low-frequency, high-power sonars for surveillance, mid-frequency sonars for surface ships, passive and active sonars for submarines, anti-mine sonars, acoustic torpedoes, underwater navigation and communication systems, biomimetic autonomous vehicles, and harbor defense systems.
