Our History

Lifeline was founded in 1963 by the late Reverend Dr Sir Alan Walker, after he received a call by a distressed man, who three days later took his own life. Life Makers Foundation works in the fields of health, employment, education and drugs through its main projects that include:

1. Improving lives (Insaan) – supporting a poor family whose children have dropped out of school. The family is supported in setting up a micro-grant business with the help of a team of trained volunteers who also support the family socially, economically, educationally, and health-wise.

2. Future Guardians – project aiming to protect the community from the dangers of smoking, drugs and addiction through increasing health awareness throughout targeted sectors of the society, specifically the youth and students. The project carried out various activities and campaigns over a time span of six years. Our Health – aims to increase healthcare awareness in the society about contagious and non-contagious diseases such as: arthritis hepatitis, bird flu, and obesity, and high blood pressure disease, cancer, and tuberculosis. The project is being carried out in partnership with WHO and the Egyptian Ministry of Health.

4. Eradicating Illiteracy project (Al-Alm Quwa) - In partnership with Vodafone we educated over 120,000 illiterate adults over a 12 month period across 9 governorates of Egypt. We used over 15000 trained volunteers and created our own curriculum.

5. The Village Project – the project aims to merge aid and development activities with healthcare and anti-drug and anti-smoking awareness campaigns. The project achieves its goal by organizing camps for Life Makers in village areas or shanty towns, which is aimed to encourage the local residents to develop their communities by encouraging them to volunteer.

The Lifesaving Society - Canada's lifeguarding expert - is a full-service provider of programs, products and services designed to prevent drowning. We prevent drowning and water-related injury through our training programs, Water Smart® public education, aquatic safety management services, drowning research and lifesaving sport.

Life School began in 1998 to serve students and families in southern Dallas. It is through the vision of the Chancellor and founder, Dr. Tom Wilson, that Life School opened its doors with 15 faculty and staff members serving 266 students at the Oak Cliff campus.

LIFE Theological Seminary, Nigeria (formerly LIFE Bible College) is named after LIFE Bible College, Los Angeles established in 1923 with its initials: L.I.F.E representing Lighthouse of International Foursquare Evangelism. Description

Today, we provide care along life's journey for children, families, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism, and seniors. We offer services like FREE child developmental screenings; Early Education Centers for children of all abilities; services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as day programs, life sharing and community homes; and a medically-monitored senior day program.

We serve 10 western Pennsylvania counties and are dedicated to providing quality care in a family-focused environment. We provide programs and services in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Mercer, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.

LIFESTEPS COUNCIL ON ALCOHOL AND DRUGS has provided substance abuse prevention, intervention, counseling and educational services in Williamson County, Texas, since 1978.

Mission: Our mission is to eliminate substance abuse through prevention, intervention, counseling, education, and family services.

LifeSteps offers the following services and programs:

SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION COALITION - The grassroots effort seeks to raise drug awareness, reduce youth access and advocate for polices and laws that will help reduce alcohol, prescription medication and marijuana abuse.

PREGNANT AND POSTPARTUM INTERVENTION (WEE CARE PROGRAM) - Provides parenting classes, counseling, parent/child activities, referrals and case management for pregnant and post-partum clients in McLennan, Travis and Williamson counties.

P.A.D.R.E. PROGRAM - Helps to manage specific needs and give the chance to learn from and with other fathers about being a nurturing parent.

FIT FAMILIES-IN-TRANSITION - Provides a safe structured environment for children and family members. The program offers supervised visitation, off-site visits and neutral exchanges.

COOPERATIVE PARENTING - An educational program focused on the needs of children who have divorced, separated or never married parents.

ALCOHOL AND DRUG EDUCATION CLASSES - LifeSteps offers education programs designed specifically for alcohol and/or drug related charges. Classes include: alcohol awareness program for minors, DWI education, drug offender and repeat offender education.

CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY ASSESSMENTS - Provided by a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) to determine the most appropriate level of treatment, education and referrals.

Life Skills Training and Educational Programs, Inc., LifeSTEPS, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization. By partnering with property owners and developers, LifeSTEPS provides high quality supportive services to residents of affordable and supportive housing. LifeSTEPS currently serves over 28,490 homes at over 275 communities throughout California.

Lifestyle Publications was launched in September, 2009 with our first magazine, Leawood Lifestyle, serving the residents of all single-family homes in the city of Leawood, Kan.
