Created in 2005 through a collaboration between Inserm – Institut National Health and Medical Research – and AFM-Telethon – French Association against Myopathies – I-Stem is the largest French laboratory research and development dedicated to human pluripotent stem cells, embryonic origin or obtained by reprogramming gene. I-Stem is part of the Biotherapy Institute for Rare Diseases, which includes so far the four centers of research and development funded directly by the AFM Telethon.

The specific vocation of I-Stem is to explore all the therapeutic potential of human pluripotent stem cells for applications in patients affected by rare diseases of genetic origin. In this context, our teams are developing two major areas of research. The first one is cell therapy, which aims to replace lost or diseased cells to other cells with the same characteristics, produced in the laboratory from pluripotent stem cells. Cos'è Istituto Forense (IF)?

IF nasce dall'urgente necessità di accostare due mondi solo in apparenza lontani, ovvero di mettere a disposizione competenze di tipo chimico-tossicologico e tecnico-scientifico al servizio delle autorità giudiziarie, a supporto delle indagini e dell'attività della magistratura, o di consulenza per le parti.

Chi siamo?

IF è composto da laureati magistrali in materie scientifiche ad indirizzo chimico-biologico e accomunati dal conseguimento del Diploma di Master di II livello in "Analisi Chimiche e Chimico-Tossicologiche Forensi" dell'Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna, unico del suo genere nel panorama italiano post lauream.

Competenze

Le competenze possedute consistono in un'approfondita preparazione scientifica negli ambiti della chimica forense, della chimica analitica, della biochimica e della farmaco-tossicologia, oltre che dell'analisi di xenobiotici per la tutela ambientale, per la sicurezza alimentare, per la sicurezza nell'industria e negli ambienti di lavoro. Gli ambiti giuridici di intervento sono, fra l'altro, quelli della sicurezza, del diritto penale, delle problematiche assicurative e brevettuali.

The University Book Store began in the 1800's in a small room in Beardshear Hall. In 1892, the Hub was completed to satisfy the need for a new bookstore, Post Office, and waiting room for the Dinkey, the Ames-to-campus steam motor line. The Book Store continued its counter service operation for 66 years. In 1958, it was moved to the Memorial Union to expand the facilities, become self serve, and add new services.
