Flash Fiber nasce il 28 luglio 2016 da una joint venture tra TIM e Fastweb, per promuovere la realizzazione delle infrastrutture a banda ultralarga con tecnologia FTTH (Fiber To The Home) nelle principali città italiane.

L'azienda, partecipata all'80% da TIM ed al 20% da Fastweb, opera sotto la direzione e coordinamento di TIM, con l'obiettivo di realizzare una rete di accesso in fibra ottica che sarà utilizzata da TIM e FASTWEB per offrire servizi avanzati ai propri clienti.

Il piano industriale di Flash Fiber prevede di collegare entro il 2020 circa 3 milioni di unita' abitative nelle principali 29 citta' italiane con tecnologia FTTH, che consente velocità di collegamento di 1 Gigabit al secondo, per un investimento complessivo previsto di 1,2 miliardi di euro.

La Società realizzerà per TIM e Fastweb collegamenti in fibra ottica dagli armadi stradali agli edifici, nonché il cablaggio interno per raggiungere le singole unità immobiliari.
