EL Harvey & Sons is a full-service waste hauling, transfer, and recycling operation. It has been an independent, family-owned and -operated business since 1911.

At our facility in Westborough, Massachusetts, we operate a high-grade scrap paper processing and baling plant, a shredding system, and a construction and demolition transfer and recycling station. Our Material Recovery Facility processes all recyclable materials, while our Installation department designs and pre-fabricates compactors to meet the varied demands of customers. We also offer mobile shredding, liquid product destruction, and waste and recycling services for municipalities and residences.

In addition to providing customers with a level of superior service, E.L. Harvey & Sons also takes an active role in the surrounding communities. Eliada was founded in 1903 by Rev. Lucius Compton as a home for unwed mothers. Often these women would implore him to keep their children and raise them. By 1906, he realized that to make a real difference in the cycle of poverty, he had to start with the children.

Dr. Compton founded Eliada to serve the children he called "the least, last, and lost." For many years, Eliada was a self-sufficient farm, growing food and raising cows for the Biltmore Dairy operation. As the times changed, so did Eliada. While no longer an orphanage, today Eliada cares for more than 600 of WNC's most vulnerable children and youth.

The East London Industrial Development Zone's (ELIDZ) Science and Technology Park (STP) aims to enhance both the competitive and comparative advantages of the ELIDZ as a preferred industrial and investment destination.

It aims to grow current tenants within the IDZ and to encourage new tenants to set up within the zone through the use of a number of innovative products and services. In essence this will be achieved through a dual process of establishing both research and networking infrastructures.

Currently a range of laboratories is being established to provide analytical testing facilities to the tenants of the ELIDZ and to industries located outside the IDZ. These laboratories will not only serve as testing and analytical platforms, but also provide high impact training facilities, platforms and opportunities required to supply the industry with a well-trained workforce. The laboratories will also be used in a range of research processes which will have been commissioned by government, tertiary institutions, ELIDZ tenants, the ELIDZ and/or private sector clients based on a broadly consulted research and innovation agenda.

It is anticipated that this research and innovation agenda will be key to economic growth in the Eastern Cape as it will encourage innovators and their start-up companies focused on this agenda to locate themselves within ELIDZ where they will have access to various innovation funders as well as an ELIDZ STP-facilitated incubation process.
