The original Fraser, Michigan location opened in 1971, with financial backing from George's parents, George, Sr. and Lila Martin. In 1980 a new 60-seat restaurant with a convenient drive-thru window opened in St. Clair Shores. By 1992, the original Fraser location, still not large enough to accommodate the growing crowds, led to the construction of a new 240-seat restaurant in downtown Fraser. Its third location in Macomb, with seating for 120 patrons, opened to quite the fanfare in 2004. El Charros newest location was established in Troy with a seating capacity of 96 and just celebrated its second year anniversary.
