· Foundation stone was placed on February 3rd, 1982 the first Kiln was lighted up on the October 4th, 1984 with first Clinker rolling out of the Kiln on the October 06th, 1984. However, the commercial production started on January 01st, 1985.

· Clinker designed capacity is 3,300,000 tons per year @ 10,500 tons per day.

· Cement designed capacity is 3,500,000 tons per year @ 12,000 tons per day.

· RAw material grinding is achieved by two closed circuit mills with production capacity of 400 tons/hour and one vertical roller mill with 330 tons/hour.

· Clinker production is from three gas kilns to produce 3500 tons per day by each.

· Clinker is cooled and transferred to five Silos; the total storing capacity is 230,000 tons.

· Cement is grounded by four cement mills of 12,000 tons/day capacities and stored in five Silos. Cement is dispatched in bulk bags and in jumbo bags. Bulk cement can be loaded directly from the cement Silos to cement bulkers. Bagging, loading and stacking are done by automatic machines, enabling the dispatching faster and economical.

· The factory is considered one of the most modern, equipped with gas fired kilns (as being operated now).

The part of the lands once inhabited by the Podunk Indians saw its first permanent colonists in 1635, when Thomas Hooker and his followers came from Cambridge, Massachusetts, to found Hartford. Students and ProgramsThe K-12 enrollment in September of 2007 was 8061 which included 3365 elementary, 1865 at the two middle schools and 2831 at the senior high. The Pennsylvania Department of Education has projected continued growth.

East Penn is noted for its academic excellence. Of the Class of 2007, 54% are attending four-year colleges or universities, 22% are attending two-year colleges and 3% are attending business, nursing or technical schools for a total of 79% seeking higher education. Nineteen advanced placement courses and 20 honors courses are offered at the high school. There are classes for special needs students and academically gifted on all levels.
