Fifty-five years earlier Lafayette County had been created by an Act of the General Assembly on December 23, 1856. Nestled between the Suwannee River on the east, the Steinhatchee River on the west, and the Gulf of Mexico on the south and west, Dixie County is surround by water on three sides and shares a common border with Lafayette County on the north.

Earlier in the 20th century, on May 19, 1907, the town that would one day become the county seat underwent a name change from Cross Roads to Cross City.

As the central and chief policy-making body for the District of Columbia, the Council's mission is to provide strong, innovative and effective leadership for the benefit of residents across the city. HISTORY

Since its founding in 1914 by F. Alden Shaw, Detroit Country Day School has offered a superior private education to students in a wholesome environment removed from the bustle of city life. Throughout almost 100 years of extensive physical and organizational change, Detroit Country Day School has remained true to the concept of nurturing the wholesome, well-balanced, and informed mind and the hardy, well disciplined, and healthy body.

The Durham Catholic District School Board serves some 22,000 students in forty elementary schools, eight secondary schools and eight Continuing and Alternative Education sites. With the exception of elementary schools in the townships of Beaverton, Uxbridge and Port Perry, all of the Board's schools span the lakeshore communities from Pickering to Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa. Some 30% of the Board's schools were built in the last twenty years. The increase in secondary school enrolment after government funding changes in 1984 resulted in the construction of five of the Board's eight secondary schools. Catholic schools in Durham Region are not a new phenomenon. Over the years, Religious Orders worked diligently in an effort to establish Catholic schools in Durham Region. One of the oldest schools in the Province, St. Gregory Catholic School, was established in 1859 and was a living tribute to the heritage of Catholic schools in Durham, until its closure in 2008. Our newest school will open in Whitby in 2013.

Derby County Football Club is an English football club based in Derby, England.
