Olympians, Paralympians and retired athletes have experienced the highs and lows of world-class competition. They know what it's like to overcome adversity and still have the will to succeed. We support these athletes, known as our GiveBack Team, and help them make the most of their skills and experience to improve young people's lives.

The results

Since we were founded in 2008, we've reached over 170,000 young people across the country. 70% of young people who took part in our flagship Get On Track programme were in employment, education or training by the time they completed. They are no longer part of the NEET statistics and are looking towards a brighter future.

OUR STORY

Founded by Paula Baake in May 2007, Dancing Mind Yoga began in the upstairs of her Alexandria home. The room had enough mat space for nine students and within six months the classes were selling out. It was time for Dancing Mind to look for a real home.

In May of 2008, Dancing Mind Yoga made the City of Falls Church its new "home" and moved into the second floor space of where the previous Falls Church News Press was located. Our little studio grew and we doubled our space within two years. Dancing Mind Yoga continued to expand and quickly became a community destination.

In September 2013, we expanded once again and moved downstairs into a state of the art 8,500 square foot space with three heated yoga studios, a cycling room, a CrossFit box, locker rooms with showers, and a wellness center offering massage, personal training, private yoga and life coaching. With the shift in space came a shift in name, and Dancing Mind Yoga became Dancing Mind – offering Yoga, CrossFit, and Cycling.

Dandelion Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate factory in the Mission District of San Francisco.

We opened our workshop out of a lifetime love of chocolate. Our friends often said that given enough time, it seemed inevitable that one of us would open a chocolate factory. They watched as we experimented with growing small cacao plants in our apartments, pan roasted beans in the oven, and ate our way through the many of the chocolate shops of the world.

In early 2010, we decided to share our craft chocolate with our friends and family and have expanded since. Currently, in our factory in the Mission district of San Francisco, we roast, crack, sort, winnow, grind, conch, and temper small batches of beans and then mold and package each bar by hand. By sourcing high quality beans and carefully crafting tiny batches, we try to bring out the individual flavors and nuances of each bean.

We're excited to bring artisan bean-to-bar chocolate back to the bay area. Like many, we miss Scharffen Berger now that they moved east to join Hershey's. We lost our local source for cocoa nibs and some of our favorite bars of dark chocolate. We hope and aspire to take over where others have left off and bring quality, local chocolate back to the area.
