The Country Club of Indianapolis was born more than 115 years ago on June 4, 1891. It was the first country club in the city and among the earliest in the nation.

Those who formed the club were prominent social and industrial figures in the thriving city of 40,000. Incorporators and members of the first Board of Directors were Chapin C. Foster, William L. Elder, William J. Richards, Ferdinand L. Mayer, William H. Coleman, Charles F. Sayles, Charles E. Collins, Cortland VanCamp, and Horace Bennett.

A remodeled farmhouse where the Woodstock Club is now situated served as the first clubhouse. It burned November 4, 1904 and was rebuilt only to burn again later.

Back then, a day at the club was a full day. Members took a streetcar from downtown to Mapleton (which now is Illinois Street and Maple Road) for the first leg of the journey. Then they were picked up by the club's 'carry-all', a wagon-like vehicle with seats along the sides for the last lap of the trip.

Originally, it was not golf, but tennis and enclosed bowling in the clubhouse that attracted members.

Libby has been the Controller for The Country Club of Naples since April 16, 1991. She graduated from Sangamon State University in Springfield, IL in 1980 with a degree in Accounting. While going to college she worked full-time for Federated Funeral Directors, a 'mail-order accounting firm' for funeral homes across the country. After graduation, she became a field auditor for the Illinois Department of Transportation, conducting contract audits of consulting engineers and others who did work for the D.O.T.

Libby took and passed the CPA exam in November of 1980 and in 1981 decided to pursue her CPA license by working for a Springfield CPA firm. In 1982, after marrying, she moved with her husband to his native New York. There she worked for two New Jersey CPA firms in Bergen County for seven years. She moved to Bonita Springs in October of 1990 with her husband and two small children. After a tax season with Rogers, Wood, Hill, Starman, & Gustason on Marco Island, she started her employment with The Country Club of Naples the day the clubhouse shut down to begin construction on a new facility.

As a CPA, Libby is required to attend 80 hours of continuing education every two years so she remains current in the field. Most of the hours are spent in coursework to improve her knowledge of club operations and issues. She is a member of the AICPA, the FICPA (the National and State Certified Professional Accountant organizations) and HFTP (Hospitality Financial Technology Professionals). She also maintains the database for the local area club controller's group so ideas, as well as problems, can be shared.

CCR was one of the first colleges in the country to deliver its entire court reporting program via distance education over the Internet and award an Associate of Applied Science degree. CCR was recently one of five colleges and universities nationwide to be selected by the U.S. Department of Education to participate in their Distance Education Demonstration Program. We are home to the state's only degree granting court reporting program. We provide exemplary educational opportunities through our commitment to an academic range of general education courses to occupational specific academic and skill development courses. From court reporting procedures, closed captioning, to computer aided transcription, dedicated faculty complement every discipline. During the last decade, College of Court Reporting has moved ahead by expanding its court reporting program creating new captioning and CART reporting courses to meet our students' needs.
