The Ayrshire Hospice is not just a building - it is a way of caring for people. We help people to live as actively as they can to the end of their lives - however long that may be, where ever that may be.

We provide care in a number of places including people's own homes, hospitals and care homes as well as in our purpose built day care and in-patient units. We not only take care of people's physical needs but look after their emotional, spiritual and social needs too. Hospice services are free of charge and are available to patients over 16 years of age throughout Ayrshire and Arran. The funding of these services does, however, require extensive, on-going fundraising and NHS support to exist. During 2015-16, it cost almost £7.4million to run all hospice services, including clinical, fundraising and support services - equating to approximately £20,000 per day. Against this, £7.9million was raised with £4.8 million being raised through voluntary donations including over £1 million in bequests and legacies left to the hospice by people in their Wills, which was closely followed by donations and gift aid as the next highest income stream of over £942,000. NHS Ayrshire & Arran provided partnership funding of over £2.7 million.

In 2004, ISR Holding acquired the state owned Neftechala Iodine-Bromine Plant located in the Neftchala, Azerbaijan, which had been closed since 1994. After acquisition, it was renamed to Azer -Yod LLC and reopened in August 2007 following reconstruction and overhaul that started in March 2006. Current capacity is 500 tpy and output is in the form of minimum 90.1% and 99.5% iodine.

Neftechala Iodine-Bromine Plant was one of the largest iodine producers in the CIS. The Plant commissioned in the 1930s, had a 250tpy capacity and used the coal-absorption method till 1985 and ion exchange method thereafter.

In December 2008, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed US$15M loan agreement with Azer-Yod LLC. This was to be used to purchase new equipment, install an additional production line and rehabilitate about 120 wells. These improvements would enable Azer-Yod to produce 500tpy.

In October 2009, the privately owned Azerbaijan Methanol Company (AzMeCo) announced it wasplanning a world scale, US$330mn methanol manufacturing complex at Karadagh. The decision followedthe approval by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to provide US$120mnof finance for the project. AzMeCo purchased the ICI process plant, originally based at Clear Lake inTexas, US, from Celanese and refurbished it in the US before shipping the equipment to Azerbaijan.

It will have capacity of around 620,000tpa with completion scheduled for Q311. The financing packageprovided by EBRD includes a US$90mn loan and a US$30mn equity facility. The International Bank ofAzerbaijan will co-finance the project. Surplus output from the plant will be transported to the Black Seaport of Poti for export to the world markets. AzMeCo has secured gas supplies from Azerbaijan's statecompany Azerigazngl at a fixed price for 20 years. Capacity of the plant will be further increased aftercompletion of AzMeCo's phase two investment program, which involves construction of a 255,000tpaammonia plant and 500,000tpa urea unit at the site. EBRD invested in the project on the premise that itwould stimulate the development of a petrochemical cluster at Karadagh, generating more investment andemployment opportunities.
