Our Story

The Australian Tapestry Workshop enjoys an international reputation as a leader in contemporary tapestry. Established in 1976, it is the only workshop of its kind in Australia and one of only a handful in the world for the production of hand-woven tapestries. Artists worldwide are discovering how this traditional medium can be used in completely new ways, and the Workshop is in the vanguard of this revival.

Using the same techniques employed in Europe since the 15th century, the ATW's skilled weavers work with artists from Australia and overseas to produce tapestries that are known for their vibrancy, technical accomplishment and inventive interpretation.

Since its inception, the Workshop's philosophy has been to employ weavers trained as artists to enable close collaboration with the artists whose work they are interpreting. Many notable Australian and international artists have collaborated with the Workshop's weavers over the years including Arthur Boyd, Jon Cattapan, John Olsen, Jorn Utzon, David Noonan and Sally Smart.

To date, the Workshop has created more than 400 tapestries ranging from palm-size to monumental. They are woven using the finest Australian wool, which is dyed onsite forming a unique palette of 370 colours. These works hang in significant public and private collections around the world. The ATW is one of Australia's largest producers of public art, and every year, millions of people see an ATW tapestry!

In 1951, Austin Child Guidance Center (ACGC) became Travis County's first nonprofit organization solely dedicated to children's mental health. The mission is to improve the mental health of children and their families through early intervention, diagnosis, and treatment to help them develop the emotional skills for meeting life's challenges. ACGC's services are integrated and individualized to meet each client's needs. A multidisciplinary team of a psychiatrist, psychologists, social workers, counselors, and family therapists supports clients through individual, family, and group therapy; psychological assessments; psychiatric evaluations; and parent education. Presentations and consultation are offered to a variety of collaborations, partners, and individuals throughout the community, in addition to training for 20 graduate student interns from mental health disciplines every year.

Austin Pets Alive!'s mission is to make all of central Texas no-kill for companion animals. Austin Pets Alive! created programs to save the key demographics of pets that hadn't been making it out of our municipal shelters alive. These key groups of animals included puppies with parvovirus, unweaned kittens, cats with ringworm, dogs and cats in need of additional behavioral support and/or additional medical attention.

By developing comprehensive, innovative programs that targeted these key groups of animals and pulling directly from euthanasia lists, Austin Pets Alive! has saved more than 25,000 dogs and cats since 2008.

Australia's Oyster Coast is an Australian company with its heart and soul in the oyster industry. We were formed in 2013 by leading oyster growers from eight estuaries south of Sydney, and now boast over 40 growers as shareholders and a strong management team of business professionals. We grow high quality oysters under rigorous environmental management systems in some of the world's cleanest waters.

The growers of Australia's Oyster Coast produce three premium oyster species for export to select partner outlets and restaurants across Asia: the Sydney Rock Oyster , the Angasi Oyster, and the Pacific Oyster. We also operate an 'Oyster Trail' - a tourism food trail which is growing in popularity among domestic and international visitors.
