The Academy for Ambulance Care (In Dutch: Academie voor Ambulancezorg) is the nationwide educating and training facility for all ambulance professionals in the Netherlands. The 3 main target groups are:

• ambulance nurses,

• ambulance drivers and

• the dispatchers working in the ambulance control rooms.

The students are sent from the regional ambulance services (RAV) to follow their training.

• For novice professionals, we offer the so-called ‘initial programs'.

• For postgraduates the AvA, in collaboration with other educational institutes, offers most up to date courses as PHTLS, AMLS, PEPP, GEMS, MIMMS, POET, etc.

• In Holland every ambulance care professional has to recertify every three years by passing an professional check. For the Netherlands we've developed a full day assessment for the 3 target groups.
